So what is the Counting of the Omer?
The Counting the Omer is a wonderful period in the Jewish calendar: seven weeks that lead us from Passover, the holiday of freedom from the shackles that enslave us from the outside, to Shavuot - the holiday of inner freedom, in which we are reminded anew of our destiny and re-accept our Torah of life.
The counting of the Omer is arranged according to the Kabbalistic SEFIROT system - a Divinely inspired model which reflects both the G-dly forces operating in the world, and our inner spiritual faculties. The experience of counting the Omer through the lens of the sefirot allows each day to illuminate in a different shade - fifty shades of light, revealing fifty shades in the human soul.
